Reporting to the Manager, Solution Design, Learning & Performance Enablement, the Instructional Design Specialist designs, develops, implements, and maintains innovative learning solutions to build field leader and advisor capabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, onboarding, learning on new technologies, new products, new sales, as well as operations and compliance processes for a variety of key corporate initiatives.
What you will do
- Consult with business partners, alongside Learning Strategy Consultant(s), to understand learning needs and provide input into learning contracts that, not only, meet the needs and objectives of specific target audience(s) and meaningful measure learning impact.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to design, develop learning content for a variety of projects with the aim of simplifying the material.
- Create professional and innovative learning materials, such as: online courses, digital learning resources, learning videos, job aids, coaching guides, and materials for facilitated sessions using advanced software authoring tools.
- Design learning activities, questions and resources to help field roles engage with the content and retain key information vital for their success.
- Effectively liaise with other corporate teams across the organization
- Develop, maintain and communicate production schedules for tactics to ensure timely delivery of learning materials for each project.
- Manage the review process for learning content by following up with required reviewers and documenting the steps for audit purposes.
- Maintain organized digital files according to the team’s standard processes.
What you will bring
- Experience assessing needs and developing learning programs in a corporate setting.
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles and methodologies (post-secondary education in Education, preferably Adult Education, is required).
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, Brainshark, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Vyond, Camtasia and MS Office.
- Demonstrated ability to apply creative and innovative skills when solving problems and designing learning programs and resources.
- Knowledge of Canada Life businesses an asset.
- Track record of consultation and influence when working with others across corporate teams.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize job responsibilities and work efficiently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as solid organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects in an agile work environment.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices for instructional design is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between $52,800 - $97,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
