The Technical Trainer (Maintenance & Automation Technologies) is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs focused on advanced maintenance skills, including robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and electric control systems. This role is critical during the launch phase of operations, requiring deep engagement with technical teams to understand equipment, identify skill gaps, and build structured, hands-on training solutions. The trainer will also manage all administrative and logistical aspects of training delivery.
This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.
- Conduct technical needs assessments in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
- Design and develop training programs and curricula for:
1. Industrial robotics (e.g., KUKA, FANUC)
2. PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron)
3. HMI configuration and diagnostics
4. Electric control systems and motor control
5. Preventive and predictive maintenance practices - Develop training materials including manuals, schematics, simulations, and assessments
- Create structured learning paths for maintenance technicians at various skill levels
- Deliver hands-on technical training in classroom, lab, and shopfloor settings
- Facilitate onboarding and upskilling for maintenance personnel and cross-functional teams
- Support Train-the-Trainer programs and mentor junior trainers
- Provide real-time coaching and troubleshooting support during training sessions
- Deliver end-to-end, customer-focused training solutions aligned with operational and technical goals
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics
- Continuously improve training content based on equipment updates, audit findings, and learner feedback
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in automation and maintenance
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions, labs, and equipment usage
- Maintain training records, certifications, and qualification matrices
- Manage training tools, simulators, and technical equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and technical documentation requirements
- Partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to align training with operational needs
- Support launch readiness by preparing technicians for new equipment and systems
- Collaborate with vendors and OEMs for specialized training and certification programs
