The Logistics Information Process Specialist acts as the central key user and coordination function for inhouse logistics related IT systems functions at the interface between inhouse logistics planning team and digitalization planning and IT team. In this capacity the logistics information process specialist creates the overview of the necessary IT system functions and information processes and coordinates with the process owners, logistics equipment providers and digitalization and IT teams to ensure the availability of the necessary system functions at the relevant project milestones.
This is a temporary hybrid position requiring two days per week at the St. Thomas, ON location, with flexibility required based on the needs of the business
Key Responsibilities
- Act as central systems key user and central coordination function and interface between logistics planning team and digitalization planners and IT department for inhouse logistics related IT systems such as SAP, MES and Logistics Fleet Controller.
- Collect the planned work processes and user requirements from the respective process planners and define and maintain the complete overview of necessary IT system functions on behalf of inhouse logistics team. Put a special focus on the interfaces between the different processes to ensure the smooth and continuous overall process.
- Coordinate with headquarter inhouse planning and digitalization planning teams to maintain the overview of centrally planned standard system functions and identify the necessary local adaptations for PowerCo Canada.
- Organize and moderate workshops with logistics and digitalization planners to align common understanding of work process and information flow. Align requirements, maintain open topics lists and track the implementation thereof.
- Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) together with the relevant process owners, operative logistics staff and external logistics equipment suppliers and service providers.
- Organize and perform training sessions for logistics staff and service providers in operating logistics related system functions together with digitalization planning and IT departments and the IT system providers.
- Upload and maintain material master data, storage locations, repacking process locations and information, logistics equipment and container information, transportation routes and other related logistics information in the SAP system and ensure master data accuracy.
- Provide first level support for logistics internal end users for the related system functions and submit change requests for system enhancements to digitalization planning and IT teams on behalf of logistics to ensure continuous process improvement.
What you bring to the Team
- Bachelors degree in logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, related Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of related experience.
- Solid base of experience in inhouse logistics processes
- Be able to understand both the logistics process planning and IT systems development worlds
- Ability to work independently and self reliant in an effective and efficient manner in an environment of shifting priorities, timelines and occasional ambiguity
- A global mindset, with a customer driven approach and ability to build trust and relationships
- Experience in battery or battery cell logistics or handling hazardous goods would be considered an asset
- Experience with logistics related SAP projects
- German language skills are considered an asset
