Summary of Duties:

The Co-op Students will work with the City of London’s Wastewater Operations staff.  In addition to assisting staff with their duties, the Field Survey Students will be assigned projects that will be completed within their work-term.

 

Work Performed:

  • Update of the Pumping Station Report - going to the Pumping stations with operations staff.
  • Mosquito larvae monitoring at sewage plants and storm ponds with Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU).
  • Outreach activities to promote and increase awareness of “Your Turn” collection of Fats, Oil and Grease and issues on “Toilets are not Garbage Cans”.  Pilot project for “Swift Comply” for restaurant Some Saturday morning work would be needed to distribute letters, cups and discuss issues in the sewer.  Use app “Swift Comply” to check on grease trap cleaning electronically.
  • Reports are required for surveys and sampling programs.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and interested in communicating with the public.
  • Excellent Time Management skills.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Initiative and organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.

Student must be enrolled in a full-time studies College/University program within the disciplines of: sciences, engineering, environmental technology, technology and/or equivalent. 

Student must be returning to full-time studies in September 2026 and/or require this position to graduate. 

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Ontario G CLASS LICENSE IS REQUIRED 

Compensation & Other Information:

$23.11/hr.
