Legal Administrative Coordinator
 

Role description 

 

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Corporate Law Clerk and Legal Ops, the successful candidate’s main purpose will be to support the efficient and effective delivery of legal services to our clients by providing administrative and practice support to a team of lawyers.  This position requires interaction with staff and management at all levels of the Organization and may include interactions with external regulators and other contacts.

What you will do 

 

You will work in partnership with Corporate Counsel to support the delivery of superior legal service to our clients and handle independent tasks when clients’ needs may be met by a member of the legal staff team. You will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative and legal tasks and provide back-up support to other Legal Administrative Coordinators and Corporate Law Clerks, as needed. 

 

You will be expected to build strong working relationships and to help drive continuous process improvement and innovation by providing efficient, timely and organized service. 

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administrative support skills, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, the ability to work independently, and will collaborate professionally and respectfully with others.  You will also be a proactive-problem solver, with a focus on anticipating needs and identifying a solution.

 

What you will bring 

 

  • Post-secondary diploma in a recognized Administrative or Legal Assistant program, or combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an administrative or legal support role.

  • Ability to independently manage own workload with well-developed organizational and time management skills and handle changing and competing priorities.

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, including proofreading with keen attention to detail and the ability to draft substantive written communications.

  • Strong technical skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point Foxit, matter management and document management software). Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential information as part of daily duties.

  • Experience with a document compare system would be an asset.The successful candidate must consistently demonstrate professionalism, diligence, tact, discretion, and reliability.
