Note: This is a full-time Support position (35 hours per week).

Duties: Under the general direction of the Operations Manager and Faculty leadership team, the Instructional Designer consults with faculty members to effectively utilize instructional technologies and sound design and pedagogical principles in all College programs. This position consults and advises the Faculty/School Management team, Curriculum Consultants and Faculty Curriculum Coordinators and Instructional Technology positions within Learning Systems Services to facilitate the curriculum development process. The incumbent will guide faculty in integrating traditional teaching/learning activities, sound teaching strategies, and instructional technologies by consulting in instructional design for all College programs.

Qualifications

 
  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Distance/Online Learning
  • HTML Edit, Dreamweaver, and a Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) certification required
  • Additional course(s) or certificates in the following would be considered an asset: Canva, ScreenPal, Audacity, MS Office 365, D2L/Bright Space, H5P, Pressbooks, or Storyline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a community college or other adult learning setting combined with practical experience and knowledge in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating online or blended learning program materials
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience using a Learning Management System with design and delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills to coordinate and carry out long-term projects with minimal supervision and the ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously
  • Advanced computer skills, eLearning software
  • Multi-media production skills using a wide variety of hardware and software
  • Experience using a Learning Management System such as D2L/Brightspace Creator+ experience and Project management- software MS Project, Trello, Slack, and AI tools and integrations are preferred
  • Awareness of Generative AI tools for teaching and learning preferred
