This job may require travel to Toronto, or in other locations across Ontario for in office days, training, or events. In office days are typically held monthly. Travel reimbursement will be provided in accordance with WSIB policies.

Salary From: $107,373.00 - $134,216.00

Temporary, up to 12 months in duration

Job Summary:

Work with the Director in identifying overall financial trends as well as interdependencies and inconsistencies assumed within project budgets across the Disaster Recovery (DR) portfolio to ensure optimization of WSIB’s short and long-term IT related investment decisions.

Collaborate with recovery teams and key stakeholders to establish the scope and oversee the implementation of Exercise Plans for the DR project.

Develop and maintain effective channels communication and relationships with stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:
 
  • Plans, manage, and controls the activities of DR Project team by:
  • Providing technical and functional advice to the cluster team leads.
  • Manage and oversee the DR portfolio’s financial budgeting, tracking, and reporting.
  • Review and understand key DR project financials and performance metrics to critically assess the reasonability of underlying assumptions and to identify financial trends and risks requiring mitigation or escalation for project or senior management action.
  • Collaborate with recovery teams and key stakeholders to establish the scope and oversee the implementation of Exercise Plans in accordance with the execution checklist. Gather performance data to facilitate result reporting, issue identification, and guiding the recovery team towards the successful completion of the exercise.
  • Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication linkages and relationships which includes:
  • Work with Business Continuity Management to ensure that the disaster recovery (crisis management) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) drive the DR strategy and procedures.
  • Help ensure compliance with any applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances and industry best practices standards and framework.
  • Work with the cluster groups to ensure that DR strategies are adequate, in place, maintained and tested as part of the regular operation life cycle.
  • Participate in project activities throughout the project lifecycle which may include:
  • Report on Disaster Recovery activities (planning, testing, exercise results, identified gaps).
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope as well as risk and issue management, identifying potential crises and devising contingency plans
  • Oversee that cluster teams to complete annual training and awareness program.
  • Ensure availability and maintenance of DR plans/playbooks for critical IT assets.
  • Ensure risk management, quality management and continuous improvement systems are established to analyse and evaluate the effectiveness and cost benefit of services and programs.

  • Education requirements:
     
Minimum Level Required
 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems is preferred, or equivalent education.
  • Appropriate certification is desirable such as the Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) or CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Planner), CBRITP, CDRE.
  • Experience
     
Minimum Level Required
 
  • 5+ years DR experience coordinating recovery teams and developing and maintaining recovery plans for service organizations.
  • Ability to work with, coordinate and provide guidance to technology recovery leads and staff.
  • Ability to work with all management levels within the organization.
  • Ability to develop and specify ideas and proposals for implementing and improving the DR program.
  • Ability to manage IT projects and budgets.
  • Experience with Business Continuity planning, Incident Command Centers, BIA’s and Risk Assessments.
  • Familiarity with technology recovery concepts and tools (e.g.: Cloud, SAN Replication, ASR, Backup, Network, Global Traffic Management, etc.)
  • Third Party and Vendor Management Experience.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, coordination, training and writing skills.
