As a role of Senior Analyst, Test Management, you will be at the forefront of Volkswagen Group’s global battery transformation, supporting the launch of its largest cell factory in St. Thomas and the transition of advanced battery cells from development to mass production. Reporting to the Head of R&D within the Technology Department, this role ensures that all cell testing meets the highest standards of technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and corporate quality.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

  • Define and Govern Global Lithium-Ion Cell Test Strategy
  • Own the end-to-end validation strategy for lithium-ion cells across formats, ensuring alignment of Canadian test activities with headquarters in Germany and global product roadmaps. Establish unified methodologies, compliance frameworks, and reporting standards that guide cross-regional teams and external partners.
  • Lead Test Report Governance and Final Release
  • Serve as the accountable authority for final validation reports, integrating data from internal benches, external labs, and headquarter review teams in Germany. Ensure that every release meets technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and company-wide quality expectations.
  • Lead Multidisciplinary and Cross-Border Collaboration
  • Direct large-scale, multi-team collaborations across R&D, quality, safety, and supplier ecosystems, ensuring technical integration, risk mitigation, and alignment of test operations with global supply chain and product strategies.
  • Orchestrate Internal and External Resource Ecosystem
  • Oversee and optimize the use of both internal Canadian test assets and external test laboratories, driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and consistency of results. Develop frameworks for selecting, qualifying, and managing external partners to ensure world-class validation outcomes.
  • Establish and Standardize Global Test Methods
  • Drive the development, harmonization, and deployment of advanced measurement protocols across Canada and Germany. Ensure test methods not only meet internal requirements but also shape local industry standards and regulatory benchmarks for lithium-ion safety and performance.
  • Strategic Test Infrastructure Planning and Partnerships
  • Define long-term infrastructure needs for cell validation, including test systems, automation, and data platforms. Collaborate with global suppliers and technology partners to influence the design of next-generation test equipment and ensure alignment with corporate investment strategy.
  • Enable Innovation and Digital Transformation in Testing
  • Introduce digital reporting, AI-based analytics, and predictive diagnostic tools into validation workflows. Build scalable data-driven systems that improve traceability, accelerate decision-making, and position the company as an industry leader in lithium-ion cell testing.
  • Advise Executive Leadership and Represent Company Globally
  • Act as the principal technical advisor to executive management on validation readiness, safety implications, and long-term battery technology strategy. Represent the company in external forums, contributing to international technical standards and reinforcing the company’s leadership in the global energy sustainability goals.

• Experience in cell validation in automotive manufacturer or automotive battery cell manufacturer. Experience on projects went through SOP/mass production phase.

• Deep technical expertise in validation processes, including test execution oversight, data analysis, and root cause investigation across electrical, environmental, safety, and durability domains.

• Strong ability to define and manage test strategies, optimize internal and external laboratory resources, and collaborate effectively with R&D, quality, and international teams.

• Demonstrated experience in test method development and optimization, as well as test bench qualification, with thorough knowledge of equipment capabilities, limitations, and lab management practices.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.

• Effective communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities.

• Able to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, and the ability to work overtime on occasion to meet ramp-up deadlines.
