Employment Status: Full-time, permanent

Job Type: Hybrid – In office with flexibility to manage your work schedule with up to 8 days per month to work from anywhere.

Job Details

The Vice President of Development and IT Operations is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's information systems and technology infrastructure. This role encompasses software development, IT operations, and the alignment of technology initiatives with business goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale IT projects, developing strategic plans, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Position Responsibilities

 1.      Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the overall IT strategy in alignment with CARFAX Canada’s business objectives.
  • Work with senior leadership to define technical roadmaps and ensure the successful execution of IT projects.

 2.      Software Development:

  • Oversee the software development lifecycle from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in agile methodologies to deliver innovative solutions.

3.       IT Operations:

  • Manage 24/7 IT operations, including network infrastructure, cloud services, data center operations, tier 2 support, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of systems and services, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.

4.      Team Management:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of IT professionals, including developers, engineers, and IT support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages professional growth and development.

5.      Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient use of resources.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers.

6.      Innovation and Improvement:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the company.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies through the adoption of new tools, technologies, and best practices.

7.      Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT and data security.
  • Lead initiatives to safeguard company data and systems from security threats.

8.      Customer Focus:

  • Partner with product teams to ensure the delivery of IT solutions that meet customer needs and enhance the user experience.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in an executive leadership role.
  • Proven experience in software development, IT operations, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects and complex technical initiatives.
  • Experience in the automotive or data services industries considered an asset.
