Job Summary:

We just launched a new enterprise learning strategy, and we are looking for people who are skilled and passionate about building capabilities through immersive learning solutions and helping employees reach their potential.

You will help the WSIB open a best-in-class learning center in London, Ontario as this role will influence the design of the center and create a cultural hub for the organization. In this role you will develop and implement enterprise-wide learning solutions that drive performance, engagement and organizational culture of being compassionate, always being helpful earning people trust and working with integrity. The key to success in this role is applying a strategic mindset, bringing new ideas forward and being able to engage with all levels across the organization with confidence.

If you imagine yourself in this role, we have some exciting new work coming our way including developing career development initiatives and curating learning opportunities that give people the exposure and experiences to enhance their learning outcomes.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Assess, develop and implement leadership and employee learning solutions to help employees learn and grow.

  • Provide expert advice and consultation to identify and develop in-house and/or external programs, resources and/or supports to enable the learning and development of employees and/or leaders.
    • Build and implement learning solutions that are aligned to the WSIB Competency model (including career development resources
  • Lead the implementation and/or facilitation of in-house/external leadership and employee development programs, workshops and/or solutions. This may include:
    • Executive development resources and support (including coaching services)
    • Leadership programs (New Manager Program, Experienced Manager Program, Director Program)
    • Leadership Accelerated Development plans
    • Design and/or facilitate leadership workshops
    • Graduation planning in partnership with Communications
  • Lead the program development and implementation of leadership and/or learning solutions and services which may include:
    • WSIB’s Tuition Assistance program
    • Support to management of mandatory e-learning courses within the LMS and integrating with the on boarding program.
  • Design and implementation of programs and solutions that represent best practices in the industry contextualized to fit WSIBs unique needs.
  • Proactively assess and diagnose organizational learning needs relative to business performance gaps.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and significant SME knowledge to link leadership and learning strategies to WSIB’s objectives
  • Develop and maintain strong lines of communication and trust with program partners
  • Use evidence and analytical insights to forecast trends and provide advice/ recommendations on leadership and learning development solutions.

2. Provide expert advice, consultation and recommendations to the Executive Committee and other Senior Management (including HR) and other key stakeholders to identify WSIB’s employees and leaders to enable their career development. This work is aligned with the following talent development frameworks and discussion forums:

  • Succession planning
  • Talent Mapping and Talent identification resources and Talent discussion forums
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to design and implement enterprise-wide leadership and employee solutions.
  • Project Manage all aspects of the design, development, implementation and measurement of programs and solutions by using highly collaborative approaches. This includes partnership with Communications to provide the business with clear, concise and effective communication tactics.
  • Facilitate sessions and provide consultation and/or coaching with colleagues (i.e. Business HR) division to educate and support their knowledge of the programs so that they can effectively support their business areas.
  • Maintain current industry best practices, including thought leadership and research.
  • Implement continuous improvements to improve the effectiveness of the program(s) and/or solution(s) within the assigned portfolio.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder relationships by providing regular updates, seeking feedback on program effectiveness and implementing change management best practices to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the program/solution(s).
  • Cross train in other branch programs and services to enhance the branches ability to provide continuous and agile support to the business.
  • Consistently develop and maintain effective knowledge management resources so that program knowledge can be easily shared with others.

3. Lead the complete procurement and vendor management process for assigned vendors

  • Collaborate with external vendors on WSIB projects and programs.
  • Own and manage the vendor relationships and bridge any gaps between external vendor and internal stakeholders to ensure a positive relationship

4. Provide individual/group debriefs and/or coaching to employee’s and/or leaders across WSIB regarding psychometric assessment tools where required (e.g. 360, Emotional intelligence assessments and/or Career development)

  • Provide coaching and support to HR colleagues in administering and debriefing same employee and leadership assessment tools.

Job Requirements:

1) Education requirements:

Minimum Level Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., applied behavioural sciences, human resources management, adult education) or equivalent combination of education and experienced.
  • CHRL

Preferred Level

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., applied behavioural sciences, human resources management, adult education) or equivalent combination of education and experienced.
  • Coaching certificate
  • Leadership assessment certifications e.g. 360, EQi,
  • An additional level of expertise in another area of Human Resources, Masters Certificate in  consulting and/or coaching

2) Experience:

Minimum Level Required

  • 5-8 years of progressive Human Resources
  • (Leadership and Learning development and facilitation, Succession Planning and Career Management) and internal consultation experience working with leaders.
  • Internal consultation experience working with leaders.
  • Project management
  • Political acuity
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in persuasive and compelling manner both verbally and in writing to all levels of leaders, employees and vendors.

Preferred Level

  • 10 years or progressive Human Resources
  • (Leadership Development, Learning, Succession Planning, Career Management and internal consultation experience working with leaders
