Buckland is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist

What you’ll be doing

This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the employee payroll and benefits programs in Canada. In addition, this position will assess personnel needs and draft targeted programs that will increase performance, organizational trust, and satisfaction. The goal is to attract, retain and motivate high quality employees while reducing turnover.

You will be responsible for

  • Bi-weekly payroll administration for Canadian Companies including government remittance and administer employee insurance programs including life, disability, and health insurance plans.
  • Benefit administration including employee enrollments, employee inquiries, analysis of monthly billing statements and assist with annual analysis of benefit programs.
  • Assist with Health & Safety, Short Term Disability plans, WSIB programs and related projects.
  • Advise and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions by conducting employee surveys, census, and demographic efforts required to collect accurate quotes from benefit providers.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Complete records, reporting, and other documentation of administrators’ and insurance carriers’ required by Federal, Provincial, and provider rules, regulations, and policies by ensuring the organization’s compliance with plan.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Apply your skills with Microsoft utilizing programs such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate your meticulous attention to detail by ensuring accuracy and decision making.
  • Driven by results working in a fast paced environment. 
  • Maintain a well-organized calendar to balance meetings, tasks, and future initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional customer support by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and effectively.

 

What we need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources and/or Payroll Administration related discipline.
  • Payroll Compliance Professional certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role.
  • Experience with Ceridian payroll software – Dayforce HCM an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and compensation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advance MS office knowledge.
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times.
  • Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in Canada/USA/MX.
