Emergency Department 

Reporting to the Manager, the ED Clerk contributes to the organizational day to day support in an outpatient department by acting as the main communication link, supporting reception & patient registration, scheduling and booking of patient appointments, diagnostic testing, lab and patient care orderables, as well as supporting the interdisciplinary clinical team. 

Regular Part-Time

Rate of Pay:                  $27.54 per hour - $34.42 per hour 

Hours of Work:             up to 22.5 hours per week, no guarantee of hours. 

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a Health Care Office Assistant Certificate, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital
  • Previous experience with patient registration and scheduling preferred
  • Previous experience in Emergency Department preferred
  • Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements 

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis; 

Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
