The Regional Sourcing Expert will work closely with the Should Cost Expert (Asia) to execute competitive sourcing events (RFX), support negotiations, and identify new supplier opportunities across the region. The ideal candidate will possess deep regional market knowledge, advanced negotiation capability with electronics suppliers in Southeast Asia, and extensive experience leading sourcing initiatives that strengthen StarTech.com’s supply resilience and competitiveness.

This position reports directly to the Global Sourcing Director (United States – PST Time Zone) and collaborates closely with StarTech.com’s Headquarters in Canada (EST Time Zone), as well as cross-functional teams in Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Supply Chain.

Please note while the role supports our team, employment will be through a trusted partner in Hong Kong or Taiwan.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Lead end-to-end RFX process execution (RFI/RFQ/RFP) for strategic sourcing events across all categories to ensure continuous cost competitiveness and supplier engagement.
  • Partner with the Should Cost Expert to build data-driven sourcing strategies, validate supplier quotations, and define negotiation positions grounded in should-cost analytics.
  • Drive negotiations with suppliers in Southeast Asia, focusing on cost, commercial terms, lead time, and long-term value creation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers to expand StarTech.com’s Approved Vendor List (AVL) across key categories in electronics and electromechanical components.
  • Lead dual-sourcing assessments and assist in executing dual-sourcing strategies to strengthen supply continuity, flexibility, and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to qualify new suppliers and support New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing readiness.
  • Serve as StarTech.com’s regional sourcing lead, providing local market insights, supplier benchmarking, and manufacturing intelligence to global stakeholders.
  • Jointly own and manage the application of AI-enabled sourcing and cost analytics tools (e.g., LevaData, Lytica, and others) alongside the Should Cost Expert to enhance sourcing transparency and decision quality.
  • Support global cost-optimization initiatives, supplier business reviews, and long-term sourcing strategy development.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, or procurement, ideally within electronics or electromechanical manufacturing.
  • Proven experience executing RFX processes and managing large-scale sourcing events across multiple supplier categories.
  • Strong negotiation experience with suppliers in Southeast Asia.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate suppliers for technical capability, cost competitiveness, and operational performance.
  • Experience executing and assisting in dual-sourcing strategies and conducting supplier due diligence for new manufacturing locations.
  • Familiarity with import/export regulations and global supply chain dynamics.
  • Skilled at collaborating with cost engineering and analytics teams to integrate should-cost insights into sourcing and negotiation strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (PCB assembly, injection molding, stamping, machining, and mechanical assembly).
  • Excellent business judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills across functions and cultures.
  • Language requirements:
    • Fluent in English and Mandarin (required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with ODM and CM suppliers in the electronics industry.
  • Familiarity with ERP and sourcing analytics systems.
  • Advanced analytical and presentation skills; capable of summarizing complex data for executive review.
  • Self-driven and effective in a multicultural, and globally distributed environment.
