Salary Grade: 212 From: $86,051.06 To: $103,855.00
Job Summary :
Conduct business and statistical analysis, assist with predictive modelling and support analytical and data governance policies, guidelines and procedures and measuring the overall utilization and effectiveness of various initiatives and programs. Produce various customized reports, data extracts or presentations on a regular or ad hoc basis. Provide technical support and advice to the business on database/data-mart/mainframe and in the developing, consolidating and reporting of data using multi-platform programs.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1. Build queries and/or write programs to extract and compile data using Power BI, SAS, R, and BI tools and Programing Languages, such as Cognos, TSO(JCL), Excel, SQL, JavaScript, Python, Access, to merge and analyze data from various sources (CDS, PDM, ODM, IMCAT, PSA, Data Hub etc) in order to conduct business and statistical analysis.
2. Create, develop and produce comprehensive ad hoc and regular reports and data extractions on claims and cost utilization, employer and worker profiling, in response to data requests from internal business areas and external clients (such as MOL, MOH, employer groups). This includes selecting the most appropriate data source, executing data requests by creating data requirements, writing programs/queries from multiple data sources, building data sets, validating data, analyzing, designing, building and enhancing reports; providing basic explanations of data findings, analysis and statistical methodologies and measurements
3. Conduct data profiling of existing data and source-to-target mapping, such as Quality Profile Report, in order to ensure data integrity and quality. This includes gathering, leveraging and documenting meta data for business values; defining, developing and documenting business rules and definitions for WSIB data attributes. Ensure data and information are valid and reasonable to the business it represents and is appropriate to meet the needs and requirements of the client by validating accuracy of data transferred from source systems to various reporting and analytic environments
4. In collaboration with the business, define/develop business and technical requirements, conduct analysis and user acceptance testing for all change/enhancement logs related to various data repositories and marts
5. Work collaboratively with the business and IT to maintain, enhance and support the utilization of existing and future data marts through the change request process managed through scheduled releases which include business and technical requirements, development, user acceptance testing, implementation and communication to users
6. Ensure data quality and integrity of WSIB data by matching or comparing data to appropriate data sources, validating accuracy, identifying, analyzing and investigating root causes to data issues or problems
7. Assist the Senior Business Analyst with client education and end user support by identifying training needs, participating in developing and delivering training/information sessions to increase client awareness and understanding of WSIB data and data extraction mining tools
8. Develop and maintain comprehensive end user documentation and reference materials/guides in the meta data repository and ensure it is current and accurate including initiating appropriate updates of definitions
9. Assist the Senior Business Analyst with predictive modeling by compiling data, ensuring data validity and accuracy in order to understand the overall performance of the business to support decision-making
10. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the business to discuss and resolve issues, understand current state and business processes, identify future needs and opportunities to fully support business data needs
11. Participate in projects, forums and working groups varying in scope and complexity including the gathering and writing of requirements, developing work plans and completing progress reports
12. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements
Education
- University completion at undergraduate level with a specialty focus in mathematics, statistics, computer science, business, engineering or science.
Experience
- Two years prior experience in business analytics.
