We are looking for a UX Manager, Design Systems.

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto or London.

 

As a UX Manager, Design Systems you will be responsible for evolving Canada Life’s design system as a product that unifies our design and development teams. You’ll help shape product vision into seamless and engaging user experiences, supporting agile teams throughout the entire design and development lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with product, brand, content, UX and technology teams to support digital delivery.

 

What you will do

  • Execute the roadmap and lead the direction of the experience design, visual style, technical tooling and documentation of the design system and pattern library with input from peers, UX/UI design, product design and development team
  • Follow team’s working practices, nurture team growth and culture by fostering interactions through collaborative partnerships and respectful dialogue with an inclusive mindset
  • Collaborate with teams and groups within the organization for design system consumption and align research activities to capture and prioritize needs 
  • Support recommendations and improve on the designs through research, reviews, usability testing and alignment to best-practices, established patterns and standards 
  • Define KPIs and report on impact and use across the company - measure and monitor adoption, product health and value
  • Communicate and champion the design system’s mission, library and process to internal and external groups creating visibility and extending reach 
  • Ensure there is guidance, product support and practices for sourcing and adding content to the Design System 

What you will bring

  • You are a problem-solver who is able to articulate compelling visions and objectives that inspire teams, clients and stakeholders
  • You are passionate about user-centred product and service design, accessibility, technology and emerging ideas in the field
  • You have product and project management skills in addition to an understanding of UX/UI design and front-end development in an agile environment
  • You have led or are continuously learning, how to build, maintained a design systems. (Aligning design:dev:documentation)
  • You understand customer experience and the relationship between brand and product design
  • You demonstrate product vision and use qualitative and quantitative data to provide product direction
  • Experience with planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing and rapid prototyping
  • You’re agile, adaptable and capable of iteration and collaboration across many disciplines
  • You’re a relationship builder with solid leadership and communication skills
  • You’re able to travel occasionally to either the office in Toronto and London, Ontario
