Contracts & Compensation Specialist (12 Month Contract)
 

Reporting to the Assistant Manager CL Direct Contracting, this position is suited for an individual who shows strong attention to detail, is highly motivated with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and thrives in an environment that is constantly changing. The Contracts & Compensation Specialist (CCS) will be accountable for onboarding and administration of contracting & licensing events, assist with various administrative tasks and data input into various compensation systems. This person is a facilitator between the advisors and field management/Canada Life business partners, as well as the regulatory boards and securities commissions. The successful applicant will be expected to learn and become familiar with the rules and processes as well as the legal requirements of the governing boards for each province, and be able to apply that knowledge to a variety of scenarios to determine what is required from both a legal and systems perspective. 

 

What you will do:

  • Analyze eligibility and handle the processing of contract applications for Advisors; complete updates, and transfers in various systems.   

  • Process new contract files and ensuring proper licensing in order in a timely manner.  

  • Review applications and handling the issue (may include sponsorship) and termination of life and mutual fund licenses in all provinces in accordance with Canada Life guidelines, provincial (resident and non-resident) Insurance Council regulations and MFDA (Mutual Fund Dealers Associations) compliance regulations.  

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Insurance Councils and Securities Commissions as well as internal and external business partners. 

  • Provide business partners with direction and support of contract requirements, licensing, or E&O.  

  • Establish and maintain detailed system records of contractual arrangements between advisors at Canada Life, utilizing Onbase.  

  • Update and maintain contracting & licensing information on various systems including the Rep/Org database, the National Registration Database, Investment Centre, Siebel, FASAT, Mainframe legacy systems, etc. 

  • Work closely with peers across the greater team (Payroll, Compensation, Buy-Sell, Maintenance, etc.) as well as across different departments (SSO, Workplace Solutions, etc.) to support the smooth transition of requests.  

  • Handle unique and complex issues and problems as they arise. 

  • Support other administrative duties and/or project work as required. 

 

What you will bring:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills both written and verbal. 

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. Adaptive to learning new systems and programs.   

  • Attentive to detail, demonstrated initiative, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Team player with a positive attitude who can also work comfortably independently.  

  • Focus on quality and timeliness to meet tight deadlines.  

  • Strong organization skills, able to handle multiple priorities, working in various systems, and managing a pending workflow.   

  • Bilingual (French/English) - Proficient written and verbal communication skills considered an asset. 

  • Business knowledge of advisor contracts and provincial licensing considered an asset.  

  • The successful applicant should be comfortable with both work from home options as well as working on site (hybrid). 

 

The base salary for this position is between  $42,500.00 - $63,800.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
