Senior Specialist People Analytics & Insight
 
 
We are looking for a Senior Specialist, People Analytics & Insights to join the People Analytics & Insights team at Canada Life.  The People Analytics & Insights team champions the evolution of our data and analytics capabilities in Human Resources to better serve our business leaders. The team will expand analytics capabilities through enabling technology, delivery of education and training, and establishing best-in-class methodologies and processes.
 
Reporting to the Manager, People Analytics, this role leads HR analytics projects for Human Resources, including the identification of HR analytics requirements, intake of requests, and delivery of HR analysis. The successful incumbent will have an opportunity to leverage their subject-matter expertise in data and technology and to help shape the vision of the function, while looking for ways to continuously innovate and improve reporting and analytic processes in Human Resources.
 
This role will collaborate closely with HR leaders, various business groups, and our internal technology partners to translate business problems into opportunities and solutions (people, process, technology). All activities require an advanced level of technical expertise in reporting and analytics tools, along with a very strong understanding of human resources (employee) data.  In addition to the requirement for technical skills, this role requires excellent critical thinking, superior communications skills, internal/external collaboration, independence, and a high degree of innovation. 
 
What you will do:
Deliver people analytics projects:
  • Collaborate with HR leaders to define and execute on HR analytics projects that support business priorities or strategic projects. 
  • Support HR initiatives targeted at servicing employees and people leaders (e.g., analysis of Diversity & Inclusion and demographic trends, performance, talent, compensation).
 
Advance HR reporting, analytics, and insights capabilities and offerings:
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and/or automation in HR reporting and analytics offerings and processes
  • Collaborate or lead enhancements/changes related to processes and service offerings
  • Collaborate with Canada Data team, Corporate Technology, and Communities of Practices on the advancement and adoption of data analytics technologies
  • Assess technologies relative to HR’s priorities, data, and processes and provide input to technology recommendations and plans to help with workforce planning and enhanced decision-making
  • Develop and deliver training plans for the People Analytics & Insights team, HR centres of expertise (CoEs), and other key HR user groups on new resources, technologies, and methodologies
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in business analytics and assess the potential impact to servicing stakeholder and leadership needs.
 
Manage HR benchmarking, KPIs and dashboards:
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to develop a data reporting and dashboard strategy for HR leaders, executives, and people leaders
  • Develop and maintain appropriate HR/people benchmarks with other organizations
  • Work with business stakeholders to define report content, self-serve functionality, and security access.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline – math, statistics, computer science, or a similar qualified technical discipline
  • Certification and/or training in human resources, business analysis, project management, and/or Lean Six Sigma would be considered an asset.
  • Subject matter expertise in data analytics in a human resources environment
 
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leaders, key HR stakeholders, and external industry leaders
  • Strong background using analysis / analytic and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Working knowledge of PowerBI Service, PowerQuery, Dataflows, and data transformation techniques
  • Background in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, Databricks considered an asset
  • Superior written communications to develop presentations and management reports
  • Strong analytical skills for problem solving purposes to increase value for the organization
  • Strong innovation and creative thinking skills to determine unique ways to deliver on unmet business needs
  • Effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure
  • Proven interpersonal/teamwork skills on high performing teams
  • Experience working on project teams to analyze business needs
  • Proven ability to learn and handle multiple priorities in a challenging work environment
  • Ability to build relationships across HR and with business partners

The base salary for this position is between  $65,400 - $120,300 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
