J.D. Power is expanding its product capabilities in the electric car space needs YOU to manage our electric vehicle (EV) data products and be a thought leader in the industry.

The Role:

ZappyRide is a software start-up acquired by J.D. Power in January 2023 focused on making electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible to consumers and businesses. We work with electric utilities (PG&E, Xcel Energy, Austin Energy), automakers (Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, BMW) and leading non-profits (Plug In America, Veloz) to make electric cars a reality.

Our Products Focus On Helping Users Make The Right Decisions Around Electric Vehicles (EVs), And Much Of It Is Through Calculations, Such As

 

  • Total cost of ownership (TCO) of a vehicle
  • Trip planning and time to charge EVs
  • Cost of charging infrastructure
  • Impact of EVs on electric bill
  • Business case for fleet electrification
     
We strive to find the right balance of new and proven technologies in software design. Our tech stack uses Java, React.js, and AWS infrastructure.

We are based in New York City, and work with clients all over the United States and Canada.

The Impact You Will Have In This Role

Our data products power websites and widgets promoting electric vehicles for most major vehicle manufacturers and electric utilities across the US and Canada. They provide vehicle specifications; federal, state, utility and local incentives reducing the cost of purchasing EVs; EV charger specifications, fuel price and emission data. You will be responsible for managing and enhancing our data products, which are JSON APIs used by customers across the US and Canada.

What You'll Be Doing In This Role

Product Roadmap

 
  • Engage clients, prospects, end-users, subject matter experts, and our leadership team to identify and crisply define product opportunities in the EV market
  • Working with senior product management develop detailed product requirements for the products that you own
  • Prioritize projects and features across our product offering
  • Capture and prioritize requirements and translate them into Agile user stories
  • Research the market, competitors and deep dive into features so they are well validated, understood and crisply and effectively articulated in written requirements
  • Define and track success metrics
  • Demonstrating a mastery of the product area you manage so you can speak as an expert and quicky and concisely respond to questions from prospects and customers
     
Product Delivery
 
  • Manage the backlog, and plan sprints prioritizing requirements and bug fixes
  • Ensure each sprint is planned ahead of the start of the sprint and the team fully understands requirements
  • Work with our software developers to deliver scope on time and on budget
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to ensure back-end and infrastructure needs are met
  • Balance conflicting needs and desires between customers, management, data, design, and engineering teams
  • Ensure client satisfaction via high quality work and responsiveness
  • Assist clients with technical requests and ensure resolution of issues
  • Perform quality assurance / quality control
     
Qualifications Of This Role
 
  • 3 years product management experience
  • 3 years AGILE experience
  • 3 years experience working with SaaS products
  • 2 years working with data APIs using Postman or similar tools for testing API queries
  • 1 year working with Jira
  • Demonstrable success defining and launching at least one product
  • 2 years experience leading small teams (can be matrix managing)
  • Ideal: Automotive industry experience
  • Ideal: Passionate about cars and EVs
