We are looking for a Manager, Technology Risk & Compliance.

 

The Technology Risk & Compliance Manager will partner with Technology Portfolios (i.e., Business Units) to drive consistency in technology risk activities, processes, and reporting via the Technology Controls Program.  Reporting to the Director of Technology Risk and Compliance, the TRC Manager will act as the single point of contact for the Technology Controls Program and lead a team of Senior Analysts and Analyst to manage the day to day operations of the Control Program. The individual will work in a technology risk advisory capacity across the enterprise and partner with key stakeholders in executing proactive and effective technology risk management practices. The partnership will help Technology Portfolio teams embed a risk management culture into delivery, support and operations that will enable achieve business objectives. 

 

Overall, the TRC Manager’s role is to strengthen technology risk and control environment; ensuring that technology and security risks are clearly understood, controls are implemented to mitigate those risks and continuous monitoring is established to measure control effectiveness.

 

What you will do

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the Technology Controls Program. This is a Level 1 high visibility multi year program which cuts across multiple portfolios. This involves providing oversight to how Technology Controls Execute in line with the defined methodology, ensuring that controls are implemented and adopted on an annual basis, assist teams with drafting remediation plans for any controls that are out of compliance.
  • Provide guidance on the technology risk management framework via established risk management processes and initiatives including but not limited to, risk identification, assessments, monitoring including remediation, governance, and reporting.
  • Lead the Digital Crown Jewel (DCJ) program including periodic assessments and working with senior stakeholders to agree on the most critical assets to be protected in the company.
  • Actively partner with Technology Portfolio (s) leaders, tech support teams, risk coordinators, and provide extensive subject matter expertise (SME) in key technology risk management areas such as projects, information security, operations, disaster recovery, resiliency, and delivery.
  • Regularly monitor, interact, and report on the risk activities and status to technology portfolio and risk management leadership team including other key stakeholders including business and technology management teams.
  • Manage ongoing risk monitoring and enforce compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Liaison with Line 2 in their review and challenge of 1st line risk processes.
  • Foster, advocate for, and strengthen Canada Life’s overall technology risk posture.
  • Manage and maintain a backlog of technology risk remediation work supported by an Issue Management governance lifecycle
  • Provide people leadership to a team of senior analysts and analysts by periodic coaching, mentoring and development of professional development plans
     

What you will bring 

  • 5-10 years of experience in the financial services industry (or other regulated industry).
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience within the area of technology risk, information risk, compliance/regulatory, or governance, specific to Information Technology Services.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of technology and security risk, regulatory compliance (OSFI, etc.), and industry best practice (COBIT, NIST, ISO standards, etc.).
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze and translate risk in the context of what it means to achieving business objectives.
  • A “continuous improvement” mindset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to build and foster strong relationships through collaboration, influencing change, and building consensus.
  • Constant learner and passion for technology and risk governance.
  • Deep understanding of how large enterprise organizations work, within in a regulated environment.
  • Preferred CISA, CRISC, or CISM certifications or continual improvement related areas like Lean Six Sigma and Process Excellence.
  • Experience with ServiceNow GRC or other GRC platforms is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between  $74000 - $137000 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
