Assistant Vice President, Business Technology Risk
 

The Assistant Vice President, Business Technology Risk is responsible for the implementation and adoption of the Technology Risk framework for business initiatives within Canada.

 

This role provides objective and independent oversight on first line of defense risk management activities related to technology operations, technology delivery, and information security to ensure technology risks are managed in accordance with the Company’s risk appetite. This role will work closely with senior leadership across the organization including but not limited to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

 

What you will do:

  • Working with Risk and Compliance Business Partners, act as subject matter expert to advise, oversee and challenge Technology Risk in our Canadian businesses. This includes, but is not limited to, technology, cyber, AI, data, technology governance and emerging risks.
  • Provide strategic insights and guidance on technology risk concepts, practices, and approaches.  
  • Provide timely risk monitoring and reporting to senior leadership ensuring that metrics and processes to consolidate, interpret and report on the technology risk profile are established and effective.
  • Develop and implement technology risk roadmaps and plans.
  • Lead a high-performance and collaborative culture within the team, providing mentorship and training.
  • Foster an environment that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo, and inspires creativity.

What you will bring:

  • Significant experience building, leading and refreshing high performing teams with an ethos of delivery and continuous improvement
  • Experience and knowledge of life insurance and wealth management businesses and products in Canada
  • Significant experience as a technology leader within a technology or operational risk function; if in technology, understanding of and experience in operational risk and resilience is essential
  • A high level of technology, cyber security, and project management experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management; ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a range of audiences across the organization; experience in working as a business partner is preferred
  • Demonstrable ability to understand an organization’s strategy and how initiatives fit within that strategy.
  • Sound judgment and strong analytical skills
  • Thrives in an environment that is complex and constantly evolving
  • Relevant current technology risk or technology qualifications

 

 

 

The base salary for this position is between  $111,000 - $205,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
