Job Description
Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Supervisor or Manager, responsible for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems management, including installation, programming and implementation of hardware and systems.
Work Performed:
- Installs, operates, and maintains SCADA control systems equipment and related hardware and administers related contracts. Ensures compatibility of SCADA system hardware, software and communications within the Division.
- Performs all necessary programming including coding for SCADA PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers), display screen modifications and other related processes.
- Carries out preventative maintenance programs to SCADA related hardware, software and peripherals.
- Reviews and recommends communications requirements, equipment and software for acquisition and replacement, in consultation with Technology Services Division.
- Determines, logs, escalates and monitors corrective measures in event of SCADA system equipment failures.
- Maintains all archival information for equipment programming.
- Maintains and updates operational manuals and associated procedures.
- Prepares SCADA system statistical and status reports. Assists in the interpretation of reports as it relates to condition of systems and potential improvements that may be required to such systems and hardware.
- Provides technical guidance and instruction to users regarding features and uses of SCADA related hardware and software.
- Maintains working knowledge of current platforms applicable to the SCADA operation. ie. Windows Server, Windows.
- Performs related duties as assigned, which includes backup for the Water and Wastewater IT Systems Administrator.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Completion of an Advanced Community College Diploma (3 years) in Instrumentation and Control Technology or Electrical Engineering or related program.
Experience:
Over five years of related experience.
Specialized Training & Licenses:
Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:
- Demonstrated skills in technical writing and technical instruction.
- Demonstrated skills in PLC and SCADA programming.
- Valid Drivers Licence-Class G
Compensation & Other Information:
$63,506 - $92,303 (Level 16)
This posting is for one (1) permanent full-time position.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:00 am a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement: On-site. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
