CARFAX Canada is seeking a full-time Statistician, Predictive Analytics to join the Product Management team.

Reporting to a Director of Product Management, the Statistician, Predictive Analytics will be responsible to apply the latest predictive modeling techniques to build, maintain and enhance the next-gen technologies that will power the future of CARFAX Canada’s products! This role will work closely with the Data Management team to understand all existing and potential data sources, as well as develop and maintain quality control procedures to ensure models function accurately on an on-going basis.
 

Position Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Work with Data Management to understand all existing and potential data sources, its ability to use in predictive models, and the value of acquiring new data
  • Conduct R&D work to develop new predictive models that can be deployed with CARFAX Canada products
  • Build, maintain and enhance modeling code base by adding new features and data, and incorporating new predictive modeling techniques
  • Develop and maintain quality control procedures to ensure models function accurately on an on-going basis
  • Collaborate effectively with members of the Product team and US based statisticians to ensure predictive models are aligned with product roadmap
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand operational data sources and build product-focused dashboards

Education and Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of industry experience building predictive models on large data sets and visualizing results using R
  • Experience with a broad range of supervised and unsupervised statistical learning techniques
  • Experience using SQL to query large relational databases (MS SQL)
  • Strong data preparation and cleansing skills
  • Excellent communication skills - should be able to communicate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to various business stakeholders
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and apply new modeling techniques
  • Pragmatic approach to solving problems - achieves goals by making incremental improvements and tracking progress over time 

Nice to have, but not required:

  • MS or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with basic NLP techniques and text data mining
  • Experience with working with data using Spark
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience creating models that are used in Products
  • Experience in PowerBI and Azure
