ABOUT THIS POSITION 

Digital Extremes is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Payroll Administrator to join our Finance team. Working under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is accountable for all functional aspects of payroll. Your responsibilities will include accurate and timely processing of payroll for Canadian and US employees, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, and achieving operational excellence through process and workflow management. Integrity and excellent attention to detail are crucial for this role. The ideal candidate will also have a strong work ethic, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and is comfortable responding to shifting demands in a challenging and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable with a hybrid work model, which includes a combination of remote and in-office work."

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administration of biweekly payroll, including the accurate processing of new hires, taxable benefits, time and attendance, leaves of absence, terminations, etc.
  • Review and approve employee expense reports, in accordance with company policies
  • Prepare and review financial journal entries, and maintain payroll workbooks and documentation
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and balance by resolving any discrepancies
  • Assist with reconciling and administrating various employee benefits or programs including RRSP and SIMPLE IRA, as needed
  • Responding to both internal and external inquiries, audits and/or requests for data by producing well organized reports or other documentation
  • Prepare year-end requirements including T4 and W2 filings, provincial employer health tax returns, workers’ compensation returns etc.
  • Review, implement, and seek to continually improve payroll processes and procedures, recommending new approaches to establish best practices
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Degree or diploma in a related field
  • PCP certification completed or in progress preferred
  • Experience managing full cycle payroll using cloud-based payroll software; experience with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Good knowledge of accounting and journal entries 
  • Knowledge and experience with U.S. payroll is an asset
  • Well-organized and highly detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment and under strict deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to take initiative
  • Proven track record of process improvements or implementations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
