Salary Grade: N08 From: $97,186.00 To: $121,483.00

Job Summary

Responsible for providing overall IT project management for large, complex high profile IT projects and/or programs within all phases of the project lifecycle. Ensure project deliverables meet client and stakeholder business requirements on time, scope, and budget, following WSIB project management methodologies and frameworks.

Ideal candididate will bring PMP certification, IT infrastructure background and strong vendor management capabilities.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

 
  • Under the direction of the Manager, CSIT (Corporate Services & IT) lead and manage complex / high priority technology projects from original concept through final implementation by:
  • Managing day to day operational aspects of projects to ensure adherence to scope, conferring with project staff to outline the work breakdown schedule (WBS), assigning duties, responsibilities and scope of authority, directing and coordinating activities of project personnel, modifying schedules or plans as required and effectively applying and enforcing acceptable project methodology.
  • Supporting and participating in defining business and technical requirements, ensuring integration of technical documentation, ensuring all project business documents, artifacts and deliverables are completed and signed off while at the same time confirming that deliverables meet business needs.
  • Managing all IT project scope, deliverables, goals and milestones including reviewing and signing off on all IT documentation.
  • Acting as a corporate liaison and providing presentation/briefings to the executive team including the office of the CIO, holding and facilitating regular status meeting with project teams and ensuring project status reporting is completed on a regular and timely basis.
  • Managing conflict within IT project teams including taking a leadership role in mentoring other team members in project management best practices.
  • Providing project lifecycle best practices and execution against plan for all IT deliverables.
  • Leading the development and implementation of project performance measures, indicators, benchmarks and guidelines to ensure project resources are used appropriately and the achievement of quality assurance standards as well as adherence to mandatory WSIB project rules and methods.
  • Identifying and managing Corporate Services & IT resource allocation and constraints throughout the project.
  • Conduct Project retrospectives/lessons learned for all projects.
  • Leading project status meetings / 'stand-ups' to progress activities and ensure stakeholder communications on status/issues/risks
  • Attending and participating in Enterprise 'stand-up' meetings to address project issues and activities
  • Supporting Lean Metrics tracked and reported within the project status
  • Identify, monitor and communicate risk and potential implementation issues to project sponsor and Corporate Services & IT Management in order to develop mitigation and resolution strategies that ensure proper business continuity for all stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility. Develop and oversee project budgets as well as forecast budget changes and communicate planned versus actual budget during the project lifecycle in order to ensure that financial targets are met and/or adjusted accordingly by:
  • Leading, managing and coordinating the business case development, review and approval including technology solution options and estimated BTS costing
  • Managing and report project budgets on a monthly basis to the project stakeholders and PMO
  • Managing and monitor Corporate Services & IT chargebacks against the projects including vendor invoicing where applicable
  • Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, operational staff, consultants and management at various levels to be aware of issues that impact on current and future projects, manage expectations, resolve conflict and elicit their support and co-operation.
  • Champion business and IT partnership by taking a leadership role with clients to ensure organizational and business readiness plans address short and long term project objectives
     
Job Requirements
 
  • Education Requirements:
  • University Degree / College Diploma (Related Field)
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years managing complex and high-profile IT projects
  • PMP certification is a strong asset
  • IT Infrastructure background and strong vendor management capabilities are strong assets
