Geospatial Infrastructure Systems Technologist

 

Summary of Duties

 

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Systems, Geomatics, the Infrastructure Systems Technologist supports Corporate Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) with a particular focus on the land base, municipal roadways, sewers, water supply, street lighting and traffic signals, with responsibility for geospatial data creation, editing, management and analysis as well as the production of maps and a wide-range of geospatial related products.

 

Work Performed

 

Update, create, acquire, and manipulate geospatial data stored in data models.

Analyze a wide range of geospatial data including land base, water, waste water, sewer, roads and transportation, street lights and traffic signals to support a broad range of Corporate needs.

Perform data conversions and file translations by taking data from various, disparate sources and ensuring that it can be accessed by end users through the GIS system, while ensuring data integrity is maintained.

Collaborate with GIS data stewards and assist staff in support of the Corporation’s integrated applications utilizing GIS, CMMS and the Capital Asset Management System (CAMS).

Apply Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures to data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with corporate standards.

Produce and/or update mapping products and reports as necessary to support operations and operational needs.

Assist with development of processes and procedures and works with GIS data stewards to improve the use of Infrastructure Systems technology.

Provide support for GIS application design, development and analysis using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) products and tools.

Maintain hardcopy and electronic record keeping systems.

Prepare maps, graphs, charts, presentation graphics and technical drawings to client specifications.

Configure mobile applications for a variety of internal users.

Complete related duties as required.

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

Completion of a two year Ontario Community College diploma in a field such as Information Technology, Computer Science/Programming, Geomatics, or a related field, plus completion of a one year GIS certificate from an Ontario Community College.

Two years previous related experience.

 

Specialized Training & Licenses

 

Demonstrated proficiency in database management software.

Knowledge of GIS and GIS data management practices.

Valid Driver’s licence – Class G.

 

Compensation and Other Information

 

$49,169 - $70,176 (Level 11)

This posting is for Geomatics.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
