Salary From: $107,373.00
This is a temporary opportunity for up to 12 months.
Job Summary:
Manage a team responsible for the delivery of Release and Deployment services. Provide technical expertise, advice and leadership and contributes to strategic and operational activities related to enterprise and non-enterprise Release Planning and Deployment activities for both ITC Initiatives and corporate projects.
Develop and maintain communication linkages and relationships internally with WSIB Business Units, Internal ITC Business and Procurement Services and externally, as required, to ensure successful delivery of Release and Deployments services.
Major Responsibilities:
Plan, manage and control the activities of section which includes annual planning of projects and priorities, identifying resource requirements, allocating work, recruiting, establishing performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing guidance and feedback to staff. This includes:
- Providing technical expertise and direction to staff when required
- Identifying and addressing blockers, inefficiencies and other issues to effective service delivery
- Participating as a member of the Branch’s management team in the development of branch goals and objectives in support of the divisional and corporate goals and objectives
- Develop and administer section operating budget, authorize expenditures and report on variances from approved plan. Recommend expenditures outside budget for approval
- Ensuring the team is effectively and efficiently staffed by identifying resource requirements, recruiting, training and orienting new employees
- Managing individual staff performance through effective coaching and constructive feedback
- Conducting regular performance appraisals, identifying skill gaps and ensuring appropriate training is provided when required
- Ensuring staff relations are conducted in accordance with internal human resources policies and practices, collective agreement and appropriate employment legislation.
Oversee Deployment Automation:
- Provide guidance to technical leads to develop and enhance deployment process and tools. Documenting and showcasing the new tools and process to management and development staff
- Provide guidance to technical lead to integrate Release management tools with SNOW, DEVOPS tools and QA Testing tools
- Oversee the technical leads on implementation of solutions for new applications deployment requirements to either project owners or existing production support teams
Oversee Release Strategy Management:
- Engage with project teams early in the project life cycle to generate Release Management analysis and provide recommendations for Release Strategy
- Preparing estimation, cost, timeline and resource requirements for the successful completion of each Release management request
- Negotiate and solicit project acceptance for proposed release calendar and scope
- Work with Environment, Data ,QA and Infrastructure teams to ensure successful release Strategy for both project and production support
- Assume accountability for the Release Strategy and integration with Environment provisioning and delivery by engaging and coordinating the various code and data deployments
Oversee Release Planning:
- Work with Projects, Production Support and Infrastructure teams to create a yearly release Calendar that aligns all the demands into one view
- Generating monthly release scope and planning by managing weekly meetings across all stakeholders (Project, QA, Environments, Infrastructure teams)
- Manage environment and project retrofit process by overseeing the coordination between all stakeholders (including but not limited to Project, QA ,Environments, Infrastructure teams)
- Drive completion of releases with business and production support. Communicating on going status to all stakeholders including Production Support, QA, Project team and Production Readiness team
Oversee Release Coordination:
- Enhance current SDLC deployment process by reviewing current process and researching new and improved industry standards
- Participate in the creation and implementation of a strategy with Architecture, WSIB / Vendor development teams and CGI. Producing new and enhanced process and guidelines
- Manage and oversee the build and deployment resolution process
Oversee Release and Change management:
- Work with Change Management to analyse all requested changes and determine the impact to prod and non-prod environments
- Prepare release management dashboards and report status of release package
- Implement metrics associated with packages
1) Education requirements:
- Undergraduate Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related discipline or equivalent education and experience
- ITILv4 certification designation(with a focus on Release designation)
2) Experience:
- 8+ years of Enterprise Applications delivery and leadership experience in Release and Deployment
- 7+ years managing Release & Deployment teams in a complex, integrated environment
- 5+ years Project Management/Delivery
