Backend Software Engineer, Canada

Trackunit is looking for a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join our Engineering team in London, Ontario.

We currently have 160+ engineers working together to innovate and build robust solutions, and a community where you can share knowledge with other skilled Software Engineers.

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will join our team of 160+ engineers where you'll be working alongside a core group of talented colleagues who dare to be curious and challenge assumptions and technical limits to find the best solutions. You will play a key role in the continuous development of our hands-on products used by 10,000+ active users every day, and 1,25M+ IoT devices.

At Trackunit, we focus on continuous integration and deployment practices and you will be delving into different projects and always be on the lookout for new innovative ways to approach tasks using the latest tools and cutting-edge technologies. You will get the chance to work with one of the most advanced and efficient IoT devices on the market through close collaboration with customers and key stakeholders.

With locations in in London, ON and Kitchener, we offer you a flexible setup with the possibility to work from any of our hubs or remotely from anywhere in Ontario.

• Who are you ideally?

• You hold an engineering degree or a similar technical education.
• You are able to clearly articulate complex problems and solutions.
• You have a genuine curiosity towards finding and solving the real problem.
• You know how to develop REST APIs using Spring Boot in Java or similar.
• You have a curiosity towards new technologies, programming languages, frameworks, etc.
• You know to use Git / GitHub for managing source code and CI/CD in a cloud environment.
• You are ideally already familiar with several open-source technologies (Kafka, Flink, Cassandra, VictoriaMetrics, Kubernetes or similar).

  Overview of the recruitment process

• Meet and greet - likely on a virtual videocall. Here you will meet the hiring manager and other relevant colleagues, so we can get to know each other better.
• Assignment specific interview. Based on the learnings from the process you will be given a case to prepare. You will present the case to the hiring manager and other relevant new colleagues.
• Personality-based interview. You will be asked to fill out an online personality assessment (we use Hogan) prior to the interview. In the interview, you will first of all get feedback on your results, but the aim is just as well to have a dialogue about what you thrive in, what we offer etc.
