We are hiring an AVP, Modernization & Strategic Prioritization. This is a hybrid role requiring the successful candidate to be in office 3 days per week.
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.
The Modernization Strategy & Solutions, Canada team plays a critical role in shaping the future of Canada Life by driving transformation across enterprise-critical capabilities. As the AVP, Modernization & Strategic Prioritization, you will lead efforts to identify high-value modernization opportunities, define enterprise-wide prioritization strategies, and drive execution through data-driven decision-making.
This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, quantitative analysis, executional and thought leadership, ensuring that our modernization efforts maximize ROI and create sustainable business value across the enterprise. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with business leaders, technology teams, and opertions to drive fact-based decision-marking and manage priorities across both vertical journeys and horizontal capabilities. Reporting to the Vice President, Modernization Strategy & Solutions, this role acts as a key leadership role within the modernization team.
What You Will Do
Strategic Prioritization & Value Creation
- Develop and manage the enterprise fact base to drive prioritization of modernization initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals
- Identify high-value opportunities and leverage points where one capability can be applied across multiple business areas
- Maximize ROI by identifying, orchestrating, and prioritizing vertical and horizontal modernization opportunities across Workplace Solutions, Individual Insurance, and Wealth
- Own the value realization plan, continuously tracking and quantifying the benefits of modernization efforts
Stakeholder Engagement & Execution Leadership
Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders across business, technology, and operations to ensure alignment on modernization priorities
Manage the backlog of modernization opportunities, balancing short-term wins with long-term transformation
Drive execution and governance for critical enterprise capabilities, ensuring that prioritized initiatives are implemented successfully
Translate complex quantitative insights into clear, actionable recommendations for decision-making at all levels of the organization
Leadership & Analytical Excellence
Lead and mentor teams in quantitative analysis and data-driven prioritization methodologies
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, ensuring clarity on modernization priorities and outcomes
Foster a problem-solving and fact-based decision-making culture, enabling teams to balance strategic objectives with execution realities
What You Will Bring
- 10+ years of experience in operations, finance, strategy, or quantitative analysis, with a focus on modernization and business transformation
- Deep knowledge of business processes across Workplace Solutions, Individual Insurance, and Wealth, with a strong understanding of operational and financial impacts
- Proven track record in prioritizing and executing modernization initiatives, leveraging data to drive business value
- Exceptional ability to engage and influence stakeholders across multiple levels and functions
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize data into clear, fact-based decisions
- Strategic problem-solver who can manage multiple priorities, drive execution, and adjust strategies based on evolving business needs
- Ability to communicate complex insights to both senior leadership and execution teams in a clear and actionable manner
- A curious, problem-solving mindset, always seeking ways to optimize and improve business processes
- A balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with the ability to both guide teams and dive into details when needed
- A team player who fosters collaboration, alignment, and momentum across enterprise modernization efforts

The base salary for this position is between $111,000 - $205,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
