Position Overview:

As a detail-oriented and proactive professional, the Career Programming Associate brings a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and operational acumen to the Student Career Coaching and Programming team. Their ability to manage both digital and physical career resources demonstrates adaptability and a forward-thinking approach. Working closely with the Director and other team members, they are a key player in delivering innovative career programming that aligns with strategic priorities.

The Career Programming Associate has strong project management skills enable effective oversight of multiple initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and maximum value delivery to students. They are adept at navigating the complexities of vendor logistics, particularly in the context of career development, and their expertise contributes to high-quality student preparation for future careers. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, they play a pivotal role in enhancing career services through strategic initiatives and industry best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

Career Resource Innovation 

  • Strategically enhance and evaluate our career resources, leveraging the latest market insights and industry trends to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
  • Manage the resource budget, prioritizing expenditures to optimize the impact and reach of our career resources.
  • Identify and integrate cutting-edge digital and physical tools, expanding our career development offerings with innovative content and resources.
  • Collaborate with program leads to address specific career resource needs ensuring cohesive and impactful support across HBA, MSc, and MBA programs.
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging trends in career preparation and technologies, adapting our career services to match the evolving work landscape and enhance efficiencies.
  • Analyze student engagement with our resources, continuously improving their utility and effectiveness.
  • Serve as an expert on career-based resources, including developing and hosting training to colleagues and students.
  • Leverage data analytics and feedback to tailor resources to student preferences and requirements, establishing metrics for success and utilizing data insights for strategic improvements.
  • Work with IT on sourcing and implementing new digital platforms or resources as required.
  • Develop strategic proposals for resource acquisition and work with leadership on vendor negotiations. Utilize LinkedIn searches, conduct research on relevant businesses, and attend external career events to source industry experts who can support students' interests and needs. 
  • Conduct thorough product reviews to ensure optimal resource utilization.

 

Key Career Programming Management 

  • Lead the planning and execution of key career events and initiatives such as the Get Connected Events and the Ivey Applicant Program, overseeing all aspects from initial planning to final execution.
  • Lead the planning and execution of flagship career events and initiatives, such as the Get Connected Events and the Ivey Applicant Program, managing all phases from conception to completion.
  • Partner with various stakeholders to curate and execute career-focused events, advising on content, timing, and participant engagement to align with our objectives.
  • Assist the Director in pioneering new projects to advance career services, including liaising with student organizations, resource development, and market research.

 

Industry Specific Engagement 

  • Manage industry-focused events and programming to align with the unique recruiting timelines for HBA, MSc, and MBA programs. Ensure the provision of high-quality career readiness opportunities tailored to the diverse interests of all full-time Ivey students.
  • Oversee the associated budget, making strategic decisions on how to allocate funds effectively to maximize the impact and reach of industry-specific events and programming. Prioritize expenditures based on the potential to enhance student career readiness. 
  • Engage with industry experts and alumni to incorporate new perspectives, knowledge, and enhancements into our career programming. Building a network of professionals who can offer valuable insights and advice, directly contributing to the relevance and effectiveness of career preparation offerings.
  • Regularly assess programming offered by industry experts to ensure alignment with the evolving market demands and student career aspirations, maintaining the flexibility to adapt our approach as needed.

 

Qualifications: 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in career services, program management, project management or a related area.
  • Proven expertise in digital content and resource management, with familiarity in HTML and digital platforms.

  • Exceptional strategic planning and project management skills, adept at juggling multiple priorities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to developing and implementing solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Digital fluency, with the ability to manage and curate digital content and resources effectively.
  • Skilled problem solver with an ability to provide relevant recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills and demonstrated capability of managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently, to plan, be proactive and suggest improvements.
  • Independent work ethic, combined with a proactive stance on improvement and innovation.
