Location: Remote Canada
Reports To: Sr. Director of Accounting

The Role:

Manager responsible for overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring that Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled, that transactions are properly recorded in the GL, and that payroll is processed timely and accurately.

The Impact You Will Have in This Role: 

Completion of month-end close, annual audited financial statements, year-end audit, research and implement new accounting guidance, and integration of acquired companies

What You'll Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Coordinate month-end close activities
  • Supervise payroll processing team, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations
  • Manage a team of two senior accountants and two staff accountants
  • Work with the team to ensure Balance Sheet accounts are properly reconciled (e.g. cash, other assets, fixed assets, payroll related accruals, etc.) for all entities
  • Oversee/assist with several foreign entities’ accounting practice, local compliance, annual financial statements and year end audit
  • Maintain corporate accounting policies to ensure the Company remains in compliance with US GAAP and other laws/regulations
  • Coordinate with the third-party valuation team to ensure they have all supporting documents needed for annual goodwill and intangible assets impairment assessment
  • Prepare annual financial statements and provide tie-out supporting documents to auditors to ensure timely completion
  • Support the Accounting Director in preparing and review the 
  • supporting schedules required for the annual external audit
  • Research and implement guidance associated with technical accounting issues
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by Management

 

Qualifications of this Role: 

The ideal candidate is a self-starting, hands-on professional accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment. The lean nature of our organization requires this position take direct hands-on responsibility for delivering work product in a timely and accurate manner and in identifying areas to focus time and energy on for maximum impact, with limited day-to-day direction.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related. Active CPA license desired
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience 
  • Minimum of 5 years total experience, 3-4 years of public accounting experience desired (preferably with a Big 4)
  • Experience using ERP platforms (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and proficiency with Coupa and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
  • Ability to lead, effect change, and work independently
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
