Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.

The London Heart Rhythm Program is looking for a Research Data Analyst to work in the Western AI Biosignal Analysis Laboratory. The purpose of the lab is to apply deep learning techniques to diagnose, predict, and treat heart rhythm disorders.  More specifically, predictive models developed in this lab will assist physicians in the diagnosis of life-threatening arrhythmias, prediction of arrhythmia outcomes and risks of sudden death, as well as quantifying potential response to interventions (such as medications/surgeries).  The Research Data Analyst will work alongside Heart Rhythm Cardiologists to design and execute data science projects with the above goal. 

Responsiblities Include:

  • Collaborating with the London arrhythmia specialists to create and conduct research projects
  • Supervision of research students working in the lab
  • Writing project proposals, submitting ethics and helping write grants proposals and manuscripts
  • Generating/manipulating/curating large quantities of data from electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, intracardiac signals and wearable devices
  • Working with big data and designing and trainining deep learning models (auto encoders, convolutional neural networks etc.)
     

Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay                  To commensurate with experience

Hours of Work:             37.5 hours per week

Duration:                      One year, with potential for renewal

Qualifications

 
  • PhD in Data Science, Data Science Engineering, or Computational Biology, combined with strong programming skills
  • Demonstrated specific training and experience working with big data and generating deep learning models
  • Academic record (prior publications) as a first author and last author in the field of deep learning
  • Strong knowledge of python programming language and remote server management (SSH shell, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
