Your Contribution

Englobe is currently looking for a Geotechnical Borehole Drilling Supervisor to join the Southwestern Ontario offices (London, Kitchener, Brantford, Stoney Creek). Reporting to the Team Leader, you will undertake site investigation and geotechnical drilling to determine the soil and rock characteristics to support the engineering design and environmental site assessment projects. Specifically, you will:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and log factual field data on borehole field logs to the specifications and/or job instructions provided;
  • Determine soil types and characteristics and taking samples at required depths;
  • Layout boreholes and order locates;
  • Supervise traffic control operations and create traffic control plans;
  • Supervise subcontracted drilling operations for auger borings, rock coring, monitoring wells, instrumentation installation and other types of drilling as required;
  • Know when to use different drilling methods;
  • Keep a boring/coring log of data and samples obtained and other required information;
  • Return field samples to the laboratory labeled, organized and complete;
  • Communicate with project managers, clients and supervisors;
  • Responsible for promoting and adhering to a safe work practice; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Profile
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related drilling experience;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with project manager and clients;
  • Physically fit and ability to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • Understanding of geotechnical borehole field logs and how they assist in preparing geotechnical reports;
  • Inspections and on-site material testing would be an asset;
  • Be willing to travel and work out of town, overnight and on weekends when required;
  • OTM Book 7 training, an asset;
  • Class G Driver's license and a good driving record;
  • Have access to a personal vehicle; and,
  • Knowledge of GINT, an asset;
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
