The Western Communications team provides strategic advice to university senior leadership, faculty, staff and teams of internal and external communications staff across Western in order to build the university’s brand on a local, national and global scale.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Communications you will work closely with various staff, faculty and leaders across campus to lead the development and implementation of internal communication plans and strategies that build bridges between the administration and campus community to advance the University’s goals. You will develop and edit Inside Western – our weekly digital newsletter for faculty and staff – and manage mass emails for the university. You will play a pivotal role in keeping employees at Western informed of what is taking place at the University

The role requires a strategic thinker who thrives on creating compelling content to captivate internal audiences through effective communications.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree; with a major in communications, journalism, media relations or related program, coupled with 5 years’ experience supporting communications plans for a variety of projects.
You have in-depth knowledge of principles of writing, including grammar and style and are current with communications best practices, processes, trends and tools.
You inspire others and have the ability to establish and build effective working relationships and partnerships with colleagues and stakeholders. You have strong project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
