Western Technology Services (WTS) provides exceptional technology resources and services to keep the Western community
connected! Western Technology Services supports students, instructors, and staff at all levels of their university experience,
including eLearning, classroom technology, cyber security, network infrastructure, technology support, and much more!
WTS has an opening for a creative, self-motivated marketing intern. If you’re an ambitious individual who wants to build a career in
social media and content marketing, especially in the technology sector, this is a great opportunity for you!

Responsibilities

A key component of your work will be working with the Security Operations team to enhance and sustain a social media presence
for CyberSmart, Western’s cyber security initiative! You will create unique social media content, promotional materials, content
marketing strategies, and communications plans to develop your real-world skills in the marketing and communications field. You
will also support the WTS Communications Specialist with planning and creating content for WTS social media accounts and other
departmental marketing initiatives.


Responsibilities
• Help with the creation of communications plans and marketing strategies.
• Design and present new and creative social media campaign ideas.
• Monitor social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback.
• Prepare detailed promotional media items, including videos, posters, graphics, brochures, etc.
• Help with the planning and hosting of marketing events.
• Contribute to the creation of mock-ups, email campaigns, and social media content.
• Help in the maintenance of the WTS and CyberSmart websites.
Position mode Hybrid (mix of remote and in-person)


Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities)
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate with FIMS.
• Familiarity with computer software and social media platforms.
• Good understanding of the latest marketing trends and techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have a passion for marketing.
• Outstanding multitasking abilities.
• Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills.


Mentoring and Training Provided by the Organization
The biggest benefit to the Intern will be real-world experience via direct involvement with envisioning, planning, and creating
communications plans and marketing strategies for CyberSmart and gaining experience managing a suite of social
media accounts. The Communications Specialist for Western Technology Services will work closely with you to support you
through your internship experience so you can gain valuable experience in the field of social media marketing! You will have
a high level of creative license afforded to you.
